Here we go again
Friday, July 31st, 2009We miss Sam
Monday, July 27th, 2009Yesterday Paul and I took the dogs hiking on the trails around our house. Sam collapsed on the way back. We took him to the lake right away to cool him off. He didn’t rally. Paul and I traded turns carrying him out (he weighed about 105-110 lbs) for about 2 miles while the Sam-less person lead the other 3 dogs and the day pack w water, etc.
We got him home and cooled him off, but he died between 1:30 and 4am this morning. We buried him here at the house this morning after I got back from a quick trip to work and Robin came over. Our friend Lauren had told me awhile ago about doing a clay paw print for a friends’ dog who died so we did that. Tyler helped me do the imprint. We chose pictures of all of us to bury with him and pulled out pictures of Sam that we could keep out (I plan to scrapbook them tonight). It has been a very sad day with lots of questions from the kids. They keep asking why he died, what is he doing in heaven right now, do the other dogs know he is gone… Tyler is angry that Jesus is the only one who ever got to come back. He says it isn’t fair. This afternoon Anna took some dog bones out to Sam.
We miss him.
My New Drummer
Friday, July 10th, 2009Tyler has been into playing drums the past few days and I think he is ready to go pro!
Old
Friday, July 10th, 2009I am too old to drink caffeine in the afternoon.
Good to know some things never change!
Sunday, July 5th, 2009I know it doesn’t look like it, but she really did start it. I am an innocent younger sibling.
We are back from our trip to Syd-cinnati. What a cute baby girl! I posted more pictures (scroll half way down, when the images change to non-numbered ones, you are on the 2nd half–I think it starts with Michael snoozing on the couch with Sydney).
It is always great to see my sister, but this was definitely one of those weekends where you see time marching on before your eyes. I am 35, she is 37. I am a step mother of 2, she has a newborn. The miracle of all of this is that my parents have not seemed to have aged. They are still mom and dad!
OK, enough deep thoughts for today. Off to read before bed–back to work tomorrow. BTW–I gave in a started the Twilight series. AWESOME. I was worried I would be scared, but I am not. Also, Elli–I also took your book, Atonement. Will you add that to my Scarpelli library card check out list?
4th of July With Sydney Olivia!
Saturday, July 4th, 2009Happy Independence Day!! Paul and I are in Cincinnati with Elli and Michael and their latest addition–Sydney Olivia! Here are some photos.
Paul drove us out on Thursday, we arrived about 4:30pm. We have been chilling and hanging out, trying to help Elli and Michael where we can. My mom and dad are coming today for the 4th–they should arrive anytime.
Paul and I ran yesterday and this morning. It was brutal. I did some crunches yesterday and made Paul do some w me this morning. He did not like that. He said, “Why do I have to have a fitness nazi for a wife? Why can’t my wife be lazy like everyone else’s?” Cracked me up. Elli was up by the time we were finished and I told her what Paul said. She laughed too and said, “Yeah–you married the wrong sister for THAT!!”
