Jake really misses Sam

Monday, August 31st, 2009

As you know, Sam died last month. About a week after he died, Paul said that Sam was always the dog that played w the kids the most. He said he would go back to Anna’s room and they would have him all dressed up in scarves, hats and necklaces and stuff–just piled it on him. He would just sit there w his Stupid Sam look on his mug. He said that thought came to him when he went to check on Sam’s grave and the kids had taken a bunch of stuff out there to put on his grave. Pictures, toys, dog bones, etc.

Well this weekend Jake must have really been missing Sam when Anna decided to play beauty shop w Jake. Check out the photo:

I wish I would have captured the table full of pink "tools" Anna was using.

Paul found a really good deal and we were going to do it for Christmas anyway.

So they have been shipped and should arrive this week. Plan is to put them together in Tyler’s room this weekend while they are w Robin.

He could not get between the drums and cymbals stations fast enough!

Then when they come back to us on Labor Day, we are going to fake him being in trouble and send him to his room right away. So shhhhhh, its a secret!! Only 1 question remains–Paul, when do my sound cancellation head phones arrive? :) Plan B is for me to hide under the cornhole board w Bluesy:

Listen to THIS!!!

Check out this website–it is so crazy! Thanks to Bridgette for sending it to me. The saddest ones are #29 and 40. Not to mention I send 12 faxes today alone…

This is also from Bridgette, the annual “feel older than dirt” list. Egads. Two that stand out to me:

  • Earvin “Magic” Johnson has always been HIV-positive, and
  • Nobody has ever responded to “Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.”

Successful trip

Monday, August 24th, 2009
  • Countless hours of rain (once we even had to turn the tent on its side to empty water to go back to bed),
  • Paul sprained his ankle and tweaked a rotator cuff muscle (original thought was broken collar bone),
  • Susan got bit in the butt by a crawdad,
  • Bear proof bag eaten into by critters…twice (2nd time rendering food inedible).

So where does “successful trip” come in? Check out these pictures:

New financial plan

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Paul and I started our new financial plan this week. We bought a lottery ticket and plan to take the lump sum payout. Don’t worry, we have our head’s on straight. We will pay off all of our debt first. Then we will buy a house in the mountains (Paul and the kids really love the mountains). Then we will buy a plane, just a small one though, and keep his friend, Bryan, on retainer to fly me back and forth to work each day.

The drawing is tonight. We have 41–Paul’s favorite number (his jersey), 17–my 2nd favorite number (Chris Mullen’s jersey, plus it is prime), and 23–you know who’s jersey number. No NOT Voldemort, but Michaellllll J  O  R  D  AAAAAAAANNN (use reverb on your voice, it will sound better).

Just wanted you to know. We are asking that there are no embarrassing scenes of asking for money, though. Christmas will be here soon enough.

Punk Rocker!!!

Jamming

Tyler’s mohawk now has green, white and blue stripes which he is extremely excited about. His original plan was to grow his hair out long “like a rock star” but then he decided he would rather have a mowhawk and wanted it colored. He was already considering it but when he saw a picture of Glen Plake he was sure of the idea.

We all went shopping for school clothes today with my mom and sister. When Tyler and I got bored we went to one of the music stores and Tyler was stuck to the drums.  I some how eventually got us out of there without buying any drums but Tyler was not happy at all about it. As you can see from the pictures here, he ended up playing some guitar when we got home since he is still without durms.

I love my life!

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

As you know, Paul cooks dinner, not me. Tonight we had homemade corn tortillas w our chicken tacos. They were SO good. I cannot even describe it! We have enough leftovers for breakfast tomorrow…AFTER our 4 mile run. Huevos rancheros anyone?

This is a really cute picture I found on Paul’s phone when I took a picture of him on the gurney. I love my boys! Life is good.

Barton cuddled on our bed in the mid morning sunshine. This is the siren's call that lures me back to bed many times.

“Benadryl doesn’t affect me like that”

So says Paul, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

You can't really tell here, but 1) he was on a gurney in THE HALL, and 2) he sleeps w his eyes open.

Paul got stung by a bee today 10 minutes into his afternoon bike ride w co-workers. They were riding my direction and I was going to meet up w them. Then I got a call, “I’ve been stung by a bee. They are taking me to Wesley Long [hospital].” They gave him benedryl and prednisone. Bike ride cancelled, 3 1/2 hours in the ED, $100 co-pay. Not such a bad reaction this time–PRICELESS.

Anna's New Bike

Anna has been getting more and more into riding bikes lately but her bike was too small for her. About a month ago I took her up to Paceline to look at new ones but told her we were just going to look. She found a bike that she fell in love with and I told her that if she showed us she would ride it she could get it. We took her back up there tonight and told her that she was just going to look again (we knew we were going to get it for her tonight though). When we told her she could get it she was so excited. When we got home we went out for a ride and she kept saying “I love my bike”. Unfortunately a storm came in so we didn’t get to ride as long as we wanted, but she still had a great time.
