Martha Stewart MOVE OVER!

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

Paul could totally take Martha Stewart in a homemaker-off:

1–he shopped on Black Friday and actually made a purchase. BY HIMSELF!

2–He bought a 2nd present today, Nov 30!

3–He cleaned the house to get ready for my mom and dad’s visit.

4–He cooked Thanksgiving (w corn pudding and lemon garlic green beans added by my mom), home made crab cakes on Friday w Greek Salad, and a SLAMMIN’ breakfast on Saturday before they hit the road.

5–He is making Anna’s birthday cake (see below).

NICE!

A version of the cake Anna has chosen for her birthday. This will be for either her slumber party or family party. A chocolate chip cheesecake ALSO MADE BY PAUL will be the cake for the other party the fish bowl does not go to.

House Dilemma #2

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Barton lurks in the yard while Tyler guts the punkin.

Barton can be a verrrrry bad kitty at times. The current problem is that when he gets pissed off, our bed gets pissed on. The most recent time was when I was at Camp Crop a Lot (yes, that is the real name) and Paul took the kids to the Carolina game. They got home about 11:30pm and after getting 2 zonked kids into bed, he dragged his exhausted butt to bed to find it peed on. I can’t believe Barton lived.

Home decor dilemma

For my birthday, my parents gave me a plant stand and gift card to fill it. I think my dad built it even! Here is the gift in its hayday:

But alas, Old Man Winter has kicked our ass and we need some help from the peanut gallery. Now that I have killed and/or transplanted what we originally bought, I want to put something in it that can stay until Christmas, and I don’t have to take care of (or have Paul take care of, I have lots of other things I need him to do between now and New Year’s). I am not sure if I am going to keep it outside or bring it in the house. Nothing scented either. Period! I thought about getting some pine cones, but they were scented and when I smelled them, it made me want to barf–and I don’t have time to go pick them from Mother Nature.

Help! What do I look for?!?!?!?

What have you Tri’d lately?

The 2010 fall session of Team in Training‘s triathlon season that I coached ended a few weeks ago. We had an amazing group of athlete heroes who raised tens of thousands of dollars to find a cure for blood cancers and support the families of those still fighting. One of the athletes put together a video to recap the race half of them did in DC. It will be the best 5 minutes of your day today! The other half raced in Wilmington. Here is a photo of the dinner where they gave me framed team photos:

Take note how I have coordinated my outfit to match the mat and frame!
